As a young boy Louis Carter III had been exposed to hard work. Having to earn his keep in the residential and commercial construction industries, along side his father and grandfather, he was always pushed to do his best at whatever task set before him.
The Carter family had always owned heavy construction machinery for their own work and rarely used it for anything else. Well Louis had other plans. While the construction aspect never really invoked true passion, heavy equipment did. Louis became a stellar operator and after finishing college, he broke off to form Carter Dozer and Excavation Services. Even though Louis did extremely well and really enjoyed his work, there was still something missing.
Hurricane Katrina changed everything:
In 2005, Hurricane Katrina swept across the Gulf Coast destroying much of southern Louisiana. After the storm, work was plentiful. The need for heavy machinery was overwhelming and Louis eagerly took advantage of that need by working seven days a week for months on end. But as quickly as that need came, it ended. There became an overwhelming saturation of machines and heavy equipment in the southern Louisiana region and everyone seemed to be competing for the same work. But what separated Louis from many others was his means of transporting his own equipment. And others in the area seemed to need that service much more than any other that Louis offered.
And so that is where it all started. Louis began transporting his competitions equipment from job to job and quickly realized that he had found his niche. He had always enjoyed the trucking aspect of his work and now he had incorporated both. He wasn’t far removed from the heavy machinery that he enjoyed and he now was trucking on a daily bases. Louis began perfecting his operation by purchasing specialized trucks and trailers specifically designed for the day to day job of transporting oversized equipment. And while Carter Heavy Equipment Transport, LLC. is still a small company on the grow, they have been able to expand to accommodate customers in the construction, agricultural, industrial, and marine industries.
Carter Heavy Equipment Transport, LLC. was officially formed in December of 2007.
